As a parent, grandparent, and 16 year educator,  I especially appreciate the importance of proper school decisions.

Relocating buyers are encouraged to ask me to coordinate school visits as part of your area tour. These visits can be integral to making the right selection based on your child's needs. Between the tools below and my assistance, you should have the necessary information to make a well informed decision.

In a recent study by the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB), Louisiana was the only state that rated "promising progress" on all six indicators for measuring the development of a learning-centered school leadership system.

This
Jan. 4th, 2006 press release announces that Education Weekly has rated Louisiana #1 in school accountability and teacher quality.  This is the second year in a row that this prestigous publication has recognized Louisiana with this important rating.  Calcasieu Parish, a certain contributor to the state's success, is blessed with wonderful schools led by a futuristic administration and talented educators.

My goal is to make this page a significant resource, including public and private schools, statistics, local and outside resources. Please submit content and link suggestions to webmaster@derenda.com.

The Calcasieu Parish School Board Home Page (CPSB) offers a drop down menu with links to school websites. I have also provided the high school web sites below. If the school name does not reflect the name of the community, it has been added. Click elementary school websites or middle school websites  for elementary and middle school sites. Both are organized by community.

The CPSB site offers a great deal of information, including details regarding the Partners in Education program as well as the Quality Corner, a section highlighting the CPSB's highly successful quality initiative.

The Louisiana Department of Education (DOE) website is a superb resource. The DOE 2007 School Report Card is especially helpful and is best accessed directly from the DOE website.  I constantly refer clients to this section of the site. Their data and reports are extensive and reflect ALL STUDENT scores. Louisiana requires that EVERY student be tested. Maybe that is a contributing factor to the Education Weekly ranking!
Mrs. Grubb's Pond is an example of my continued commitment to Calcasieu Parish Schools.  Further, the pond is indicative of our community! Volunteer labor, donated materials, significant monetary donations played an important role in the pond's success. I wrote 4 grant proposals and received all 4!
